









Description
On the outside of the Cathedral, the stresses at the front facade is
composed of two towers that are considered the highest in Mexico. Only
the north tower is the bell housing, there is the bell Mary. In the
facade appear intercolumnios niches with sculptures and medallions
roleados of Charles V, Philip II, Philip III and Philip IV. Baroque
ornamentation is accentuated in the dry, friezes and pedestals. The
choir from the nave can be seen the beautiful carving of the stalls of
inlaid by master Pedro Munoz. The cypress, the plant is circular and is
of Corinthian style, finished in marble of different shades, it is down
to the Pantheon of the bishops. Retablo de los Reyes, is in the chapel
of the same name and its design is due to Juan Martinez, also in its
composition are niches with sculptures of kings and oil paintings on
canvas.

Tourists can take a tour, starting in the atrium there observe the
towers, alcoves, the facade will have access to the bell in the interior

information of one of the most important attractions of Puebla.
Background
The cathedral was built by seasons, starting in 1575, with the architect and
trace montée Francisco Becerra. In 1640 the building was lifted up pitifully
media walls and abandoned. Don Fray Palafox y Mendoza of the consecrated on
18 April 1649. The work continued for the rest of the XVII and XVIII century,
in 1678 is given to the north tower and south tower in 1768. The choir was
conducted between 1712 and 1722. The two bodies were donated by Carlos V.
The cypress is the architect José Manzo developed in 1797 and 1819. The
altarpiece of the Kings was built in 1646 to 1652 and the work was carried
out by the sculptor Lucas Mendez.
